As the battle for streaming supremacy intensifies among popular rivals like Spotify, Apple, and Amazon, each platform is introducing new features to stay ahead. While Spotify focuses on generative AI, Apple Music is prioritizing enhanced human interactions and, potentially, better recognition for artists.

All these new features will be included in the upcoming Autumn range of products, coinciding with the release of Apple’s iOS17.

One notable addition is collaborative playlists, a feature already available on Spotify. Similar to Spotify, Apple users can now invite friends to edit playlists, with the added quirk of assigning emojis to songs and tracks.

Additionally, Apple is set to introduce commercial-free radio shows exclusively for subscribers. In theory, this feature could be beneficial for DJs.

Another promising enhancement is the inclusion of detailed music credits data. If you’ve ever come across old CD inlays, record sleeves, or cassette covers, you may have noticed the extensive credits given to each song. Apple aims to mirror this approach by including production credits, instrument player credits, and more in their playlists. This move is sure to be welcomed by artists, as it offers them additional exposure.
