I did a session with Terry to get some new ideas on how to DJ. Having been DJing for about 12 years, it was good to talk to and learn new things from an experienced DJ, including playing with some new equipment. Would definitely go back for another refresher.

The one to one experience was invaluable,I liked how the structure of the course was articulated across,which gave me a understanding of the ground work required and some fundamental basics of music structure which is crucial to the fun part of the course which is applying it to the practical side of DJ'ing. Fantastic.

The 3-day course by OTR is the perfect way to start DJ'ing from scratch. I've always loved music, but had never even touched a pair of decks. After the course though, I have the ability & tools to already create my own mixes with practice. Not only are Jay and Terry so knowledgeable about their craft, and flexible with scheduling, but they are also great fun to spend time with. My advice to anyone wishing to learn - don't waste time looking anywhere else!

Jay is an amazing teacher. Through a four hour session he was able to cover a wide variety of key topics in a very accessible way. The session was highly personalised and hands-on. Whatever I felt wasn't appropriate for me, we simply skipped. It was also adjusted to my skill-level, gear used and future goal. Amazing feeling when Jay shows you where you currently are (skill-wise), what you need to do to get where you want to be and then blows your mind with the last 10%. Highly recommended!

Jay is a brilliant tutor: kind, patient, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. He covered the fundamentals of DJing, and transitioning to digital, as well as providing lots of technical support and general guidance. A great place to learn.

Went to On the Rise as an ageing professional (whatever that means! ;)) DJ with a big set coming up and no knowledge of setting up for the new generation of USB CDJs. They were absolutely brilliant. They jumped straight on it and over a couple of nights had me ready and raring to go.  At the gig and it all worked like a dream. Was unbelievably grateful. 10/10

I'd been struggling for years trying to self learn and decided to do one on one course and I can't recommend enough how much I enjoyed learning. The knowledge of equipment is mind blowing from jay and can't recommend them enough, well worth every penny.

The 3 day 1 on 1 course was amazing. A real eye opener on how to fully use my controller (Pioneer DDJ SX2) and Serato DJ. Jay showed me how to use iTunes properly for playlists and how to organise my music, which I was having issues with. I was using Serato crates but after seeing the iTunes side I have changed to this method. Terry was great at showing me how to scratch and was really patient whilst I got the hang of it. Overall a great experience and will definitely book some sessions in the future.

Took part in the transition to digital course as to try some different equipment before taking the plunge. Had a great time, Jay was extremely informative and I've had my eyes opened to organising my digital catalogue amongst other things. Top notch stuff at On The Rise ! Jay the tutor was great. We had a discussion about my goals and what I wanted from the lesson and he delivered all the things I wanted. His knowledge is great but he didn't run with it and was careful to ensure I was on board all of the time by encouraging me to ask questions and getting answers that made sense and built in my head the picture that I required in order to get to the next level of working with Traktor. Highly recommended and already looking forward to my next lesson.

After countless years of playing vinyl I decided it's time to catch up with the digital world and got myself a Traktor s4 controller and Traktor DJ software. It looks quite daunting but after a day with Jay at On The Rise DJ Academy I have a good all round knowledge of the controller and software. More importantly the things I really needed to know he went through with me in depth and I now know inside out. Very knowledgeable crew, very good day, it's good to learn

My one day DJ course was just such a laugh with Jay. It was just the right mix of technical information, learning and generally having fun and playing some of my favourite party tunes. Jay is a great teacher, very patient and answered all of my questions. I now know what an utter skill and art there is to DJing. Unfortunately, I just want to learn more now!!!

Brilliant. Booked a day's DJ course so our 16 year old could learn the fundamentals before blowing all her savings on some decks and more vinyl. Terry was amazing with her - very knowledgeable and enthusiastic - and she came away buzzing, having learnt to scratch, beat-match and more. I was a bit worried it was quite expensive when we signed up, but having seen the facilities and teaching now think it's actually great value. Can't recommend highly enough. Hopefully will be back for day 2 in 6 months!

I took part in the 8 week DJ course with Jay and Terry. I'm a complete beginner and probably a little older than the average starter to be honest. I picked up far more than I expected to. Both the guys are very experienced and incredibly helpful when it comes to imparting knowledge and even tailoring parts of the course to the requirements of each individual. They touched on much of the core fundamentals and delved into plenty of advanced fields as well. All in all I couldn't be happier, and once I've had time to practise and get myself up to scratch I'll definitely be back to do some one on one classes.

Jay is a patient and friendly tutor, I have learnt a lot during the 3 days lessons. He is a knowledgeable DJ who is willing to share what he knows and the lessons were always interesting. I had an enjoyable experience.

It was my first time visiting London, and was on the hunt of a good source to learn from specific needs, so there was OTR in which I was hesitant to book with at first, but after going for it and taking a couple of lessons, it was what I expected and more. I learnt a lot from the whole team and just couldn't have enough so I had to go back again and learn more!

Just finished the production course at On The Rise and couldn't be happier! I was very nervous before starting, especially as I have no music background but the guys put me at ease straight away and my tutor Alex was fantastic and went through everything slowly and was happy to repeat sections to make sure I had grasped all the tools. I would recommend coming here to anyone looking to make a start in music production. Keep up the great work guys!

I have just finished a 3 day advanced scratching course with Jon1st and I'm absolutely buzzing.  Jon's way of teaching, taught me more than I ever expected possible in just 3 days. Guys, I wanna thank you personally for taking on board everything I explained in our first phone conversation's and nailing every aspect of what I wanted to achieve. You both knew exactly what I needed to get me over the mental block I had with my scratching style, and having Jon1st as my teacher was a honour and .....well, sick!! His teaching style and ability to simplify and brake down patterns,routines and juggles made it massively simple to understand. Walking away with 3 new scratches and beat juggling under my belt is an unbelievable achievement. Thank you so much.
