The Mixcloud Live Beta Is Complete

When the first lockdown of 2020 threw the DJ world into chaos, Mixcloud stepped up with a love streaming platform to support DJs. Today the Mixcloud Beta is complete and the platform enters its next phase.

Mixcloud started off as a platform for podcasts and radio shows. It quickly proved popular with DJs due the chart system. Subsequently Mixcloud launched initiatives to ensure PRS payments for artists and a subscription based system as a revenue stream to help DJs.

As the coronavirus pandemic swept across the globe, DJs flocked to platforms like Facebook and Twitch only to have their streams taken down due to copyright issues. Mixcloud Live offered a legal, licensed alternative to other sites making it the ideal choice for DJs to stay in the public eye while live events are on hold.

The speed and scale at which Mixcloud Live developed is truly admirable and a testament to the army of coders and developers who made HQ streaming and PRS licensing a reality for streamers, musicians and label owners.

Now that the beta is complete, we can expect further improvements as the Mixcloud press release notes:

“Coming out of beta doesn’t mean that we’re done building it. Quite the opposite — we’re just getting started. This year we will expand Mixcloud LIVE’s features, continuing our mission to build the world’s best music live-streaming platform.
