It seems like a hot minute since Pioneer released the DJM S11 and now the SM7 is here as perhaps a more cost effective upgrade to the industry standard S9. Let’s take a look at this new battle mixer for Serato & Rekordbox users.

As with all Pioneer products, design wise the SM7 is both robust and sleek. In terms of sound quality, the SM7 improves on the S9 but not quite as good as Pioneer’s new benchmark SM11.

The lower price of this mixer and the inclusion of the Serato Scratch bank makes it an appealing option for DJs who don’t want to break the bank. The SM7 comes with USB and CDJ connectivity plus bluetooth pairing for using apps like Table Beats.

Another great feature is the option to combine hardware, software and loop midi FX together via the FX buttons and pads through different combinations. The SM7 will set you back around £1030, cheaper than it’s predecessor. It seems likely the SM7 will replace the S9 as the more affordable option for Pioneer DJs looking to upgrade.
