OTR Recommends-Music you may have missed in 2023

Like most years, 2023 was a great year for new music. So much so, it’s really hard to keep up with all the new releases that came out last year. Here’s a few you may have missed in this Bandcamp list. Some details below:

Noise Factory – Alienation EP

Technically not a 2023 release but a reissue from the early 90s. Noise Factory were a prolific music making duo known for countless Hardcore Jungle classics such as ‘Mr Sulu’ which is included on this EP.

Bay B Kane – Forwards In Reverse

Another reissue from the same time period. Bay B Kane is an artist with an instantly recognisable production style which is on full display with this album of Jungle gems, deep, bassy and at times experimental in a way ahead of it’s time.

Coki & Leotrix – DIY feat. Flowdan

This is a throwback to the peak era of UK dubstep. The bars flow, the bass murks the place!

Confidential Recipe – Dance Trax Vol. 58

It seems like 2023 was the year of Funky Techno, perhaps in response to the rise of Hard Techno and it’s Melodic counterpart. Tracks like those on Confidential Recipe ‘ Dance Trax Vol. 58’ swap the thunderous beats and Juno synths for stabby grooves that join the dots between House and Techno.

MINDTRX – Move Reality EP

A more experimental take on the typical Rave sound but still bangs!

LDLDN – Technology EP (Remixes)

There’s a bit of everything in this remix package but the Drumskull remix in particular is worth checking.

Denham Audio – Denham & Friends Vol. 2

This a collection of recent collabs with Denham Audio but it’s a worthy addition to the collection, especially for Swankout collab ‘Good Times.’
