The report finds that 1 in 5 UK nightclubs have closed their doors for good since the onset of the pandemic and calls the government to account for not doing enough to protect the industry.Popular streaming platform, Soundcloud has laid off 20 percent of it’s workforce citing the need for ‘sustainable profitability’ which does sound rather like a continued race to the bottom for the music industry in general and highlights the problematic relationship between music and Silicon valley.
