Coming this spring, a new documentary called 808 will take us through the story of the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine and how it revolutionised the music industry.Produced by You Know Films and Atlantic Films (Atlantic Records) the film’s trailer was seen at the tail end of last year, but has only just been scheduled for release. Apple Music and iTunes have acquired exclusive rights to the film, but select cinemas in the United States are also scheduled to show it.When discussing the idea to give Apple exclusive rights to the film, Atlantic Records’ CEO said: “It’s only appropriate that a film about a machine that revolutionised how music is made be seen via a service that revolutionised how music is consumed.“The story of how the 808 changed the face of modern music is simply extraordinary, and the Apple Music audience is perfect for this compelling film.”The documentary features Arthur Baker, Pharrell, New Order, Phil Collins, Richie Hawtin, Afrika Bambaataa, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), Rick Rubin, Diplo, Goldie and so much more.Watch the trailer for 808 here:[Via Magnetic Mag]Share this:Click to email this to a friend (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)RelatedIF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU'VE READ HERE AND WOULD LIKE TO GET MORE THEN WHY NOT SIGN UP TO OUR NEWSLETTER FOR MORE INFO AND SPECIAL OFFERS!* indicates required
