OTR’s Classic Jungle Bandcamp Playlist

Something a little different today. We searches for some classic Jungle rollers available on Bandcamp. We picked ten instantly recognisable bangers from the golden era that still bring the heat today. Link to the list here. A few words on the tunes below

1. Studio 2 – Dirty Games

Hardcore Jungle with heavy bass stabs and the infamous ‘play those dirty games’ vocal. You will have heard this many times at the rave, a raw, roughneck slice of early Jungle.

2. Wots My Code – Dubplate

Ray Keith classic from 1992, an early prototype for the amen break driven sound we know and love today.

3. FBD Project – The Core

Hardcore Jungle from the darkside. Twisted sounds that will give you goosebumps.

4. Lemon D – The Pulse

A favourite of the late DJ Tango, dark, twisted mentasms and amen breaks from the era when the happy pianos died and the spine chilling ‘darkcore’ sound ruled.

5. Brainkillers – Screwface Part 2 (Hardcore Mix)

Wolf howls, wails and amen science straight from the seminal Jungle raves of the mid 90s (AWOL, World Dance etc).

6. Omni Trio – Renegade Snares (Foul Play Remix)

Jungle with soul and deep atmosphere. Sublime strings, an unparalleled anthem.

7. The Rood Project – Thunder (Original Mix) [2022 Remaster]

A gem from the Intelligent Jungle era- melodic strings, deep bass and yes.. rolling amen breaks.

8. Subnation – Scottie

“We’re all going to die here” “We’re not gonna die…”, “Scottie!” A tounge in cheek use of samples- a belter of a Jungle tune!

9. Ellis D – One For The Ladies

A perfect snapshot of the 94/95 Jungle sound. Rapid breaks interspersed with Rare Groove samples and a whole load of party atmos.

10. Congo Natty – Junglist

“I’m a Junglist” Rebel MC aka Congo Natty with Pete Bouncer on vocals. A track on the cusp of Drum and Bass with strong Hip Hop influences.
