Deep Jungle just re released a deep cut from the early days of Jungle featuring two icons of the DnB scene.

Originally released in 1993 on Lucky Spin Recordings, Trace & Ed Rush ‘Don Badman/Clean Gun’ sells on Discogs for as much as £99 plus shipping.

The good news is you don’t need to get scalped on Discogs to own a copy. Deep Jungle have reissued and remastered the EP with extra versions of ‘Don Badman’ straight from the DAT tape it was originally recorded on to Viny and digital.

Both tracks mark a departure from the happy rave of 1992 into something that bears strong similarities to Hip Hop and Dub Reggae albeit sped up to 160BPM. The sound system MC samples, half time beat drops and rumbling sub bass show the early beginnings of the blueprint Jungle sound and even hint at an early prototype of the Dubstep sound. ‘Don Badman’ is a treat for early rave fanatics with replayed and retuned parts of 2 Bad Mice ‘Waremouse’, Nasty Habits ‘Here comes the drumz’ and Scott & Keith ‘Get Busy Cru’

Despite the unmistakable analogue sound and production style, both tracks don’t sound out of place among today’s rave tracks, quite the contrary in fact.
