Label Deep Dive: Da Demolition Squad

We take a deep dive into label, DJ collective and events brand, Da Demolition Squad.

There’s not a lot of public information about this label. Da Demolition Squad have a Soundcloud, Bandcamp and Instagram page. It seems the emphasis is on the music and showcasing new and rising talent.

The first label release dropped in September 2020, a grime track called ’50p’ by Saxoneer followed by regular free tunes (some of which are sadly not available anymore) that covered an insanely wide range of genres from Hip Hop to 90s ‘Bristol Bass’ style DnB, Jungle, Footwork, UKG, 2 Step, Bass, Speed Garage and modern Breakbeat Hardcore and Jungle Tekno.

Notable artists (by no means an exhaustive list) include Oldskool Britcore Hip Hop/Early Rave revivalist, Greedy G, Cheetah, Daffy, 4am Kru, DJ Sofa, Chimpizm, Phasmid, Dunman, and Arkyn.

Now an established label, DDS put out regular new music available for a very reasonable price on Bandcamp plus the odd free track like just added 4am Kru Jungle banger ‘Wutt.’

DDS are part of a growing trend of DIY labels that operate almost exclusively on Bandcamp. In almost 4 years, the label has attracted some major talent, released on vinyl, played at numerous events such as the Rave Story and elevated a host of fresh new artists. We strongly recommend a rummage through their back catalogue on Bandcamp where you will find some real gems that may have gone under your radar until now.
