GDY & Jack Hewitt takeover the Wheels of Steel at SJQ, Dalston This Friday

SJQ Dalston welcomes two standout selectors to the Wheels of Steel, this Friday at 10pm, and it’s well worth your time if you’re after something rooted, rhythmic, and properly curated.

Gurpreet aka GDY comes through with deep musical knowledge shaped by her upbringing in the outskirts of West London. Her sets pull from the energy of jungle, garage, and soundsystem culture, but also reach far and wide-footwork, baile funk, and other diasporic sounds that sit between movement and memory. It’s music of the in-between, global in scope and grounded in resistance.

Jack Hewitt brings a different kind of warmth, drawing from a crate stacked with jazz, disco, African, and Latin records. Expect groove, texture, and a real sense of flow.

If you’re local, this is one to catch in person. Two great selectors in an intimate space-don’t sleep. Free to attend. More details here
