I chose "On the Rise" DJ course because of the guys that are the tutors, Mr Jay Cunningham and Mr Terry Hooligan Ryan. My 8 week course was great fun very relaxed atmosphere but serious business was taught. I learnt more that I expected and was extremely pleased with all that was on offer. I've come away with a real understanding of what it all means to get it right on various equipment. The 8 week course is perfect and is worth every penny if you listen to the tutors. I didn't know much about my Apple Mac-pro until I took it in to the class, but now I'm able to teach others how to correctly use iTunes music crates and Rekordbox and well as Serato. Went to On the Rise as an ageing professional (whatever that means! ;)) DJ with a big set coming up and no knowledge of setting up for the new generation of USB CDJs. They were absolutely brilliant. They jumped straight on it and over a couple of nights had me ready and raring to go. At the gig and it all worked like a dream. Was unbelievably grateful. 10/10

Brilliant. Booked a day's DJ course so our 16 year old could learn the fundamentals before blowing all her savings on some decks and more vinyl. Terry was amazing with her - very knowledgeable and enthusiastic - and she came away buzzing, having learnt to scratch, beat-match and more. I was a bit worried it was quite expensive when we signed up, but having seen the facilities and teaching now think it's actually great value. Can't recommend highly enough. Hopefully will be back for day 2 in 6 months!

PURE CLASS!!!! On the Rise DJ academy is the best! Terry and Jay are absolute legends and at the top of their game. I went to OTR with just a pure love of dance music and not a clue about DJing but wanted to learn, started at the basic level and within an hour was mixing tracks on CDJs. Starting with how tracks/music is laid out and built, then onto beat mashing, setting the pitch and how to blend tracks together. They both take the time to get to know you and the music genre you are into and carefully select tracks based around your preferences but are easy to learn with. You set the pace you want to learn at and they are experts in all aspects of the music business. They can teach you software or hardware specifics or provide unbiased advise all kit thats out their. Absolute top class!!! Could not recommend it enough whatever level your at.

Jay is an amazing teacher. Through a four hour session he was able to cover a wide variety of key topics in a very accessible way. The session was highly personalised and hands-on. Whatever I felt wasn't appropriate for me, we simply skipped. It was also adjusted to my skill-level, gear used and future goal. Amazing feeling when Jay shows you where you currently are (skill-wise), what you need to do to get where you want to be and then blows your mind with the last 10%. Highly recommended!
