Tickets9 and Music Venue Trust want to make ticket resales ethical.

If you’re fed up with being scalped on ticket resales, then Tickets 9 and Music Venue Trust have a new initiative which might change things.

Tickets9 is, in fact, an ethical ticket resale platform launched in partnership with Music Venue Trust. The idea is that fans can sell tickets at reasonable prices. For events over 5,000 capacity, a £1 donation is added to be redistributed to grassroots venues.

Fans, promoters, artists, and others can register for the online platform and sell their tickets. Scalping is not just discouraged, it is not allowed.

This puts the onus on events promoters to sign up and to offer leftover tickets at a reasonable price. The nightlife and hospitality industries continue to suffer from a post-pandemic downturn in sales. It is clear that pricing clubbers out of the market is not the solution, and this could go some way towards a more inclusive nightlife economy and the possibility of people finally returning to the dance floor after years of struggling through the cost of living crisis.
