Sven Vath is known as a Techno DJ, a veteran of the dance music scene in general and owner of the Cocoon Recordings label.

‘What I Used To Play’ is a project born out of the lockdown years of 2020/21. The tracks represent pivotal moments and influences in the history of both the formative years of Sven Vath the DJ and in broad terms, dance music itself.

There are well known inclusions such as New Order ‘Blue Monday’ and A Guy Called Gerald ‘Voodoo Ray’ and perhaps lesser known to most of us gems by Lhasa and Foremost Poets.

Depending on your age, many of these tracks appeared as samples in your favourite tunes, for example, Rockers Revenge ‘Walking On Sunshine.’

It’s very unlikely you will find these tracks on the same LP anywhere else. We start in the early 80s with the classic ‘Magic Wand’ by Houdini and finish at the end of the decade with Primal Scream and Meat Beat Manifesto.

The album is 36 unmixed tracks in total, available on vinyl and CD. Pre Order here
