Fabric is holding an event in support of Shaun Robert’s GoFundMe campaign featuring a huge line up. It promises to be an emotional event and one you don’t want to miss. Click here for tickets.

Shaun Robert was the Promotions Manager at Fabric and a much loved member of the Fabric community which includes some of the biggest DJs.

Sadly, Shaun was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and is currently fundraising for life extending treatment not available from the NHS.

Some of dance music’s biggest names will be playing on the night including Chase & Status, Andy C, Annie Mac, The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim with all proceeds going to Shaun’s GoFundMe. The event takes place on the 18th November 2021. Grab your tickets here.

PURE CLASS!!!! On the Rise DJ academy is the best! Terry and Jay are absolute legends and at the top of their game. I went to OTR with just a pure love of dance music and not a clue about DJing but wanted to learn, started at the basic level and within an hour was mixing tracks on CDJs. Starting with how tracks/music is laid out and built, then onto beat mashing, setting the pitch and how to blend tracks together. They both take the time to get to know you and the music genre you are into and carefully select tracks based around your preferences but are easy to learn with. You set the pace you want to learn at and they are experts in all aspects of the music business. They can teach you software or hardware specifics or provide unbiased advise all kit thats out their. Absolute top class!!! Could not recommend it enough whatever level your at.

Jay is an amazing teacher. Through a four hour session he was able to cover a wide variety of key topics in a very accessible way. The session was highly personalised and hands-on. Whatever I felt wasn't appropriate for me, we simply skipped. It was also adjusted to my skill-level, gear used and future goal. Amazing feeling when Jay shows you where you currently are (skill-wise), what you need to do to get where you want to be and then blows your mind with the last 10%. Highly recommended!

Jay the tutor was great. We had a discussion about my goals and what I wanted from the lesson and he delivered all the things I wanted. His knowledge is great but he didn't run with it and was careful to ensure I was on board all of the time by encouraging me to ask questions and getting answers that made sense and built in my head the picture that I required in order to get to the next level of working with Traktor. Highly recommended and already looking forward to my next lesson.

Loved it. I signed up to a 3 day course to learn how to evolve my basic beat matching skills to get to grips with some new equipment, learning phrase mixing, use of effects and management of RekordBox. I can safely say that I left feeling like I got very good value for money, due to the amount and quality of the one on one tutorial time, which you rarely get on other DJ courses in London. Jay and Terry are lovely guys, true masters of their craft and excellent teachers. Jay was always energetic, positive and inspiring and Terry shared lots of nuggets of wisdom about getting ahead in the industry. The studio is a great place to learn and the vibe is very relaxed and friendly. Highly recommended for Djs of all levels to learn or master their craft.

The 3 day 1 on 1 course was amazing. A real eye opener on how to fully use my controller (Pioneer DDJ SX2) and Serato DJ. Jay showed me how to use iTunes properly for playlists and how to organise my music, which I was having issues with. I was using Serato crates but after seeing the iTunes side I have changed to this method. Terry was great at showing me how to scratch and was really patient whilst I got the hang of it. Overall a great experience and will definitely book some sessions in the future.

The 3-day course by OTR is the perfect way to start DJ'ing from scratch. I've always loved music, but had never even touched a pair of decks. After the course though, I have the ability & tools to already create my own mixes with practice. Not only are Jay and Terry so knowledgeable about their craft, and flexible with scheduling, but they are also great fun to spend time with. My advice to anyone wishing to learn - don't waste time looking anywhere else!
