A new documentary dropped on New year’s day celebrating the history of Jungle imprint, AKO. It’s packed with appearances from top DJs and producers and you need to see it!!

This documentary is as much about creative entrepreneurship as it is about Jungle music. AKO was launched by DJ Stretch who presents a brief history of the label, his relationship with Reinforced Records and other stalwarts of the scene like Goldie, Randall, and L Double to name a few.

What makes this retrospective unique from others is the focus on recent output on the relaunched AKO imprint. We hear from artists and DJs like Enjoy, Threshold, Sweetpea and countless more.

Everyone recollects their experiences of working with the label and Stretch in a genuine and positive way and the tunes are outstanding. Like myself, you may not have known about AKO but you will come away from this doc wanting to buy the tunes and seeking out DJ sets from Stretch and co!

Watching 25yrs of AKO gave me an overwhelming sense of positivity. What really stuck with me is a definition of Jungle that I’d never heard before- family. Far from the moral rage bubbles of social media is a scene still going strong and getting bigger and better by the day in the face of adversity. This is more than a music documentary, it’s a powerful message of positivity, joy and resilience. The fact its sound tracked by banger after banger is a welcome addition to the good vibes!
