Tracksniff- track ID recognition from DJ sets

Scrolling through Reddit, I came across a website called Tracksniff, a site that uses ai to scan DJ sets to find track IDs. The website appears to be in it’s early stage, currently allowing for scans of Mixcloud and YouTube links and uploads of audio files under 100mb.

According to the site, Soundcloud scan in is in the works with more updates to follow. I signed up for the generous free account which allows 50 set scans per month. I tried a YouTube link for a Josh Baker set. The processing time was around about 10min on my fast broadband. The site correctly identified the ubiquitous ‘Front 2 Back’ among its low confidence IDs maybe because of similarities to ‘Renegade Master’

I then tried a Mixcloud link which processesed much faster. I picked a show from Mixcloud s House music recommendations and Tracksniff correctly identified two tracks but also got a lot wrong such as wrongly ID’ing ‘Where Love Lives.’  I think this is understandable as the tracks on the set were very Piano heavy.

My guess is Tracksniff uses API from streaming sites combined with ai recognition which will always mean a degree of error. I like the confidence based system for identifying tracks and I’m sure Tracksniff will improve with time.
