We now know what that video Pioneer posted on their socials was hinting at. Two new controllers just hit the market- The DDJ Rev 7 & DDJ Rev 1.

Starting with the Rev 7 that comes in at an eye watering £1382 ($1900), what you get is a Serato DJ controller with 7″ platters that can be tweaked for grip via ‘slip sheets.’

The layout of the Rev 7 suits seasoned turntablists and scratch DJs with start/stop buttons situated to the bottom right of the platters and 33/45 switches on the bottom left. Waveforms for two tracks can be loaded in the middle of the platters where the option for pitch bend is also available. The controller comes with extra pads that can be set to each separate platter to utilise scratch bank and also offers preloaded looped beats to practice your cuts even without a track loaded. Moving on to the DDJ Rev 1, a LOT cheaper at an approx UK price of £190, this model is an entry level Serato Lite/Pro controller aimed at open format/battle DJ’ing.

Beatsource Tech expert, Mojaxx has lots of praise for the sturdy Jogwheels and a series of pads, filters and cues that lean towards a beginner scratch DJ experience. One notable addition is scratch bank, available for the first time in Serato Lite. Whether you are starting out or looking for something to practice on, this is an ideal controller with the right amount of tools and a layout that suits newbies and even more seasoned DJs. Once again, here’s what Mojaxx has to say about it
