NexGen Music: New Artists Producer Competition

June 1, 2016

NexGen Music are asking for music submissions from new producers in the genres of DNB, Bass, UKG & Downtempo/Chill and will pick 4 winners, one from each genre, who will win $250 & a release on the label with full PR campaign through On The Rise Music & social media support. As an added extra, the entry that the label is feeling the most will win an additional $250.

The competition is open to new producers *anywhere in the world*

Jay the tutor was great. We had a discussion about my goals and what I wanted from the lesson and he delivered all the things I wanted. His knowledge is great but he didn't run with it and was careful to ensure I was on board all of the time by encouraging me to ask questions and getting answers that made sense and built in my head the picture that I required in order to get to the next level of working with Traktor. Highly recommended and already looking forward to my next lesson.

Loved it. I signed up to a 3 day course to learn how to evolve my basic beat matching skills to get to grips with some new equipment, learning phrase mixing, use of effects and management of RekordBox. I can safely say that I left feeling like I got very good value for money, due to the amount and quality of the one on one tutorial time, which you rarely get on other DJ courses in London. Jay and Terry are lovely guys, true masters of their craft and excellent teachers. Jay was always energetic, positive and inspiring and Terry shared lots of nuggets of wisdom about getting ahead in the industry. The studio is a great place to learn and the vibe is very relaxed and friendly. Highly recommended for Djs of all levels to learn or master their craft.

Learn To To DJ at On The Rise DJ Academy (Student) (DJ Course)

The 3 day 1 on 1 course was amazing. A real eye opener on how to fully use my controller (Pioneer DDJ SX2) and Serato DJ. Jay showed me how to use iTunes properly for playlists and how to organise my music, which I was having issues with. I was using Serato crates but after seeing the iTunes side I have changed to this method. Terry was great at showing me how to scratch and was really patient whilst I got the hang of it. Overall a great experience and will definitely book some sessions in the future.

The 3-day course by OTR is the perfect way to start DJ'ing from scratch. I've always loved music, but had never even touched a pair of decks. After the course though, I have the ability & tools to already create my own mixes with practice. Not only are Jay and Terry so knowledgeable about their craft, and flexible with scheduling, but they are also great fun to spend time with. My advice to anyone wishing to learn - don't waste time looking anywhere else!

I took part in the 8 week DJ course with Jay and Terry. I'm a complete beginner and probably a little older than the average starter to be honest. I picked up far more than I expected to. Both the guys are very experienced and incredibly helpful when it comes to imparting knowledge and even tailoring parts of the course to the requirements of each individual. They touched on much of the core fundamentals and delved into plenty of advanced fields as well. All in all I couldn't be happier, and once I've had time to practise and get myself up to scratch I'll definitely be back to do some one on one classes.
