8 Week Beginners Group Course.
Sunday Afternoons 12-3pm
Jan – 18th, 25th
Feb – 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd

This course is designed to take complete beginners from the ground level all the way to recording your first mix, and even performing live at either an event or a live stream!

The 8 week course is a total of 24 hours. The course will take place on Sunday afternoons.
By breaking the whole mixing process down into easy to follow stages you and your fellow students will soon not only understand what makes a good mix, but will (with our help, guidance and a little practice) soon be able to beat match and mix your favourite tunes seamlessly.
During the course you’ll learn about all the different ways of mixing on CDJs, Vinyl and Digital across various platforms. You’ll learn different types of equipment to see how they work, how to use it correctly.
There will be a maximum of 7 people on the group course.

5 Week Advanced DJ Group Course.
Monday evenings 6.30-8.30pm
Feb – 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd
March – 2nd
If you have been on one of our beginners group courses, or even a 1on1 course, then this is the next step for you.
This is the course that will take your skills up a level and unlock the next level of DJ’ing.
This is not a beginners course and is only suitable for DJ’s that are already mixing.

– Advanced FX use
– Combination FX
– Looping tricks
– Advanced x-fader & up fader use
– Creative mixing with loops and tempo changes
– Transitioning between genres.
– Using acapellas
– Advanced and relative phrasing
– Exporting music to a USB through Rekordbox

This course will be taught by head tutor Terry at out Wembley branch on Saturday afternoons from 12-2pm starting on 11th October.

5 Week Beginners Vinyl Group Course.
Tuesday evenings 6.30-8.30pm
Feb – 2nn, 10th, 17th, 24th
March – 3rd
These shorter, focused and more affordable courses are designed to be the perfect intro to some of the foundational aspects of DJ’ing. If you’re already playing out, or you’re looking to have more fun with your hobby, these courses are a brilliant way to up your game or your enjoyment of the culture of DJ’ing.

You will learn…
– The basics of setting up your equipment to start scratching
– learn to scratch on vinyl, controllers and CDJ’s.
– Using the cross fader to scratch and learning how to sync your hands together
– Core scratch techniques like the Baby, Transform, Drags, chirps and release scratches.
– Incorporating scratching into your sets and the best sounds to use
– Beginners beat Juggling
– Creative mixing using scratch techniques.
– How to develop an effective practice regime to develop your speed and flow.

All these course will be taught by Terry, the head tutor at On The Rise and a vinyl, scratch and digital DJ for over 30 years.
